Based in SMC Corporate Headquarters in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, Doods in 1994, after a series of promotions became the Manager for Corporate Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering of San Miguel Corporation - a position he held until his retirement in January of 2000.

 

He later joined Lear Corporation as Plant Manager of Plant 222, a multinational automotive wire harness manufacturing plant located in Mactan Export Processing Zone with corporate offices in Southfield, Michigan USA, where he achieved a series of world record breakthroughs in manufacturing.

 

His over-all training and application of experience revolved not only within the country but also in Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, three breweries in People’s Republic of China (Guangzhou, Shundie & Baoding) and Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

Doods was 2nd placer in the PEE Board Examinations in 1983, a college instructor, speaker in various technical fora & symposia and lecturer in seminars. His significant contributions to the electrical engineering profession earned him IIEE’s “Most Outstanding Electrical Practitioner in the Field of Industry” – a national award he received in 1996. He had been the President of the IIEE Cebu Chapter in 1986 and is until now perennially active in IIEE activities. In 2002, another IIEE national award was given to "Doods" as the “Most Outstanding Electrical Practitioner in the Field of Consultancy”. He was also cited as "CIT’s Y2003 Most Outstanding Alumnus in the Field of Engineering Consultancy." The multi-awarded Doods was also conferred as IIEE’s "Most Outstanding Regional Governor for Y2003." As Region 7 Governor in 2003, he captured the Most Outstanding Regional Conference & the Best Chapter Awards of IIEE.

ACHIEVEMENTS/RECOGNITIONS WITHIN THE EE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION

 

His significant contributions to the electrical engineering profession earned him the IIEE’s:

 

  • Most Outstanding Electrical Practitioner in the Field of Industry” – an award he received in 1996.

 

  • In 2002, another IIEE National Award was conferred on him as the “Most Outstanding Electrical Practitioner in the Field of Consultancy”.

 

  • A Lifetime & Senior Member of IIEE, he had been president of IIEE Cebu Chapter in 1986 and is until to this date active in IIEE movement.

 

  • Doods became Regional Governor of IIEE Region 7 in 2003 was also cited as Most Outstanding Regional Governor for Y2003.

 

  • Doods organized the North Cebu Chapter of IIEE in 2003 which under Doods’ leadership baton had reaped series of honors in Best Regional Conference Awards whenever the Chapter hosts it. 

 

  • Nationally elected as Governor-at-Large, he became IIEE’s National Auditor in 2009.

 

  • IIEE COLLEGE OF FELLOWS: In 2012, Engr. Doods A. Amora was conferred the Grade of Fellow – a distinction coveted amongst the electrical engineering community of the country. Doods then became a Member of IIEE College of Fellows since 2012.

 

  • Served as member of Legislation & Legal Affairs Committee (LELAC) in an active role in the drafting and crafting of the proposed new Electrical Engineering Law now in Congress (HB 5826) and in Senate (SB 2963).

 

 

RECOGNITION OUTSIDE THE IIEE ORGANIZATION

 

  • CIT-U ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: In 2003, Doods was also awarded as CIT’s (Cebu Institute of Technology) “Most Outstanding Alumnus in the Field of Engineering Consultancy”.

  • PROFFESSIONAL REGULATION COMMISSION:  In June 22, 2016,  Doods was the recipient of the “2016 Outstanding Professional of the Year Award” in the field of Electrical Engineering profession.  (The prestigious Professional Regulation Commission award is the highest award bestowed by the Commission upon a professional who demonstrated high levels of competency, integrity and significantly contributed to the advancement in their field of their profession, and to the effective discharge of the profession’s social responsibility through meaningful contribution/participation in socio-related activities).

DOMINICO ‘DOODS’ A. AMORA is a Professional Electrical Engineer with 41 years of experience in the practice of electrical profession. In 1974 after graduating BSEE at the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT), he started his basic electrical engineering experience in Nasipit Lumber Company/Philippine Wallboard Corporation, a large wood-based industrial complex in Northern Mindanao. After five years, he was later employed by the Beer Division of San Miguel Corporation where he spent 15 years in Mandaue Brewery, 2 years in the construction & start-up of Davao Brewery and 4 years in SMC Corporate Headquarters. While in SMC for 21 years, he focused on operation, maintenance and electrical construction of breweries. Along the way, he reaped 38 multiple awards & various citations befitting an outstanding employee.
